The story follows Kira Navárez, a xenobiologist from Weyland, a planet orbiting around the star Epsilon Indi. sometimes Paolini writes screams out loud, which at least for me killed the dramatic tension a bit, they were extremely infrequent and the rest of the book holds up enough that I can forgive them.Ī good chunk of the book is spent on character interaction.
While I did have some quibbles with the writing, e.g. This book, however, demonstrates that Paolini has really upped his writing game, creating a truly massive universe on par with something like Alastair Reynolds' Revelation Space series, while still managing to keep a very human touch to the story.
